Robert Arentz is the founding member of Arentz Law Group, P.L.L.C. The firm was founded in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Arentz graduated with honors in 1973 from Michigan State University, and attended Pepperdine University School of Law, graduating in 1978. Mr. Arentz is admitted to practice law in Arizona, California, various Federal Courts and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Arentz has focused his practice over the past 25 years on criminal and DUI defense. He has served as a criminal defense attorney here in Arizona on many high profile and complex criminal cases, including death penalty litigation, numerous felony trials, and appeals. In 1984, Mr. Arentz helped to create the Public Defenders Office in Cochise County, Arizona. He served as director of the office for over 5 years. From 1993 until 2010, Mr. Arentz was the Supervising Attorney for Arizona’s largest criminal defense firm.
Mr. Arentz, in addition to managing the firm, limits his practice to criminal law and has successfully represented individuals facing serious criminal charges for the past 25 years. He has represented the accused facing charges from local and state law enforcement, the federal government, including the DEA, FBI and Secret Service.

Michael S. Yucevicius – of Counsel
Michael Yucevicius is the senior trial attorney in the Firm’s Criminal Division. He is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management from Perdue University in 1977. Prior to enrolling in law school, Michael worked as an auditor for the accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand. He then graduated from Chicago Kent College of Law in 1984 with honors.
Mr. Yucevicius is admitted to the State Bars of Arizona and New York, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Ninth Circuits and the United States District Courts of Arizona, the Southern District of New York and the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Yucevicius is a Board Certified Specialist in Criminal Law, certified by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization.
Mr. Yucevicius began his practice as a criminal defense attorney in the state and federal trial and appellate courts in New York City. In his time practicing there, he tried more than 75 criminal matters, including several high profile felony and murder cases. In addition to his criminal defense work in New York, Mr. Yucevicius also successfully represented several clients in civil lawsuits involving police misconduct and civil rights violations.
In 2002, Mr. Yucevicius relocated to Arizona. He has continued to limit his primary area of practice to criminal defense, and only handles serious and complex felony cases for the firm. He is experienced in all facets of defending clients in both state and federal court. Mr. Yucevicius also represents licensed professionals before administrative tribunals and business owners before State licensing boards. He is committed to providing aggressive representation for his clients, from the early stages of investigation through trial and post-conviction proceedings if necessary.
Robert R. Teague
Robert R. Teague is the Supervising Attorney in the Firm’s Bankruptcy Division.Mr. Teague is a 1992 graduate of the University of Arizona, Cum Laude. He then graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1998, and has been licensed in the State of Arizona and the United States District Court for the District of Arizona since 1998.
Robert has focused his practice on Bankruptcy Law, and is one of Arizona’s leading consumer bankruptcy attorneys, having successfully filed and received a discharge for over 11,000 clients. Mr. Teague was the Consumer Finance Attorney of the Year in 2007, Top 50 Volunteer Lawyer in 2008, and the Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney of the Year in 2009; Volunteer Lawyers Program. He was Certified by the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization in 2008 as a Bankruptcy Law Specialist.
Prior to joining Arentz Law Group, Mr. Teague was employed at Phillips & Associates Bankruptcy Law Center for 11 years, and was the Firm’s Supervising Bankruptcy Attorney the last 5 years. Robert handles all consumer bankruptcy cases, including Chapter 7 & Chapter 13 filings.
Ana Maribet Sanchez – of Counsel
Ana Maribet Sanchez is a trial lawyer in our criminal defense division. Ms. Sanchez was born in Panama City, Panama, and is a graduate of Arizona State University, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish Literature. Ms. Sanchez is also a graduate of the Arizona State University College of Law. Ms. Sanchez is admitted to practice in Arizona and is fluent in both English & Spanish.Ms. Sanchez has dedicated her primary area of practice to criminal defense, in which she successfully defended clients in both misdemeanor and felony cases since 2005.
Ana is dedicated to providing each client with the personal attention that their case deserves. She believes in keeping each client well informed of the case’s progress, strategies involved and encourages and values client input to fight for the best resolution in every case.
In addition to her work as a criminal defense attorney, Ana is also experienced in Bankruptcy Law and is involved with the Rule of Law Initiative sponsored by the American Bar Association.
Kevin S. VanderWerff, Sr – of Counsel
Kevin S. VanderWerff, Sr deals with criminal cases for the firm in Utah. Mr. VanderWerff graduated with his Bachelors degree in Business Management from Utah Valley State College in 1998. He attended law school at Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska and was a visiting student at the J. Reuben Clark School of Law at Brigham Young University, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 2001 from Creighton University.Mr. VanderWerff has experience in business law, bankruptcy law, insurance defense, criminal law and personal injury law.Kevin VanderWerff currently is the firms Supervising Criminal Trial Attorney whose practice is limited to criminal defense cases. Kevin has tried both felony and misdemeanor jury trials and has successfully represented clients facing charges ranging from felony sex charges to traffic cases.
Many of Mr. VanderWerff trials involve defending DUI cases. He has received specialized training for DUI defense and has completed the NHTSA course for the Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) which is the same training received by police officers who are administering the Sobriety Tests in the field.
Mr. VanderWerff has earned a reputation for aggressively defending his clients against criminal charges and is dedicated to protecting the rights of every client.

David A. Stewart – of Counsel
David A. Stewart is a Utah trial lawyer for the firm specializing in criminal defense. Mr. Stewart is a graduate of Brigham Young University, with a BA in English Language & Literature. He attended and earned his law degree at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2003.
Mr. Stewart limits his Utah practice to criminal defense. Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Stewart worked as a trial attorney for one of the state’s largest criminal defense firms. He has successfully defended clients and has experience in criminal matters ranging from traffic offenses to serious felony charges. Mr. Stewart is dedicated and experienced and fights to protect the rights of the accused. David is licensed to practice law in Utah and Idaho.
